Pride is the feeling of confidence and self-respect that one gets after accomplishing a major achievement. The feeling of pride, though common to every sapience being, can be found excessively in ambitious men and women. Whether it is a great warrior, a craftsman, an artist, a scholar or a king, they all have one feeling in common, which is their desire to take a great pride in their work, postion or wisdom.

In most cases, the pride of a being is the major driving factor which motivates him to pursue his goals and reach greater heights. Without pride, the competition will be significantly reduce and the ambition will no longer exist. In our daily lives, the student compete with each other to get the award for the most brilliant. The researchers competes to make the greatest discoveries. The companies competes to make the best product and attract consumers. The writers compete to give birth to the greatest of human imagination and the countries compete to be the mightiest in the world. Everyone put efforts to achieve the greatest ranks in their respective field and as the consequence of their hardward, they tend to take great pride. Similarly, pride is also the factor which results in a never ending competion to achieve the greatest of the achievements. 

It is true that pride is important to drive a person or a group to achieve their goals and is backed up by their efforts. But when there is not enough efforts to back up the great pride of a being, it becomes destructive in nature for the individual and causes his downfall. Sometimes people are also affected by overconfidence which is also a negative aspect of pride. There are many cases when great inviduals and even great nations were led to their downfall because of excessive pride. Therefore, it is necessary to always remain humble and to respect the efforts of others while have sufficient self-respect for yourself.

It is a different adventure, for you can do whatever you want, like playing games at high volumes, running all around the house, and exploring the restricted parts like the garage and basement. But as the saying goes, "The biggest adventure does not take long to become the greatest nightmare". Something like this happened to me recently when I had gone to stay in my father's childhood home for the winter holidays in Himachal Pradesh. My grandfather built the house in the small and sparsely populated yet beautiful village of Kangra. We often choose it as our tourist destination because of its heavenly landscapes and majestic mountains.
